Jeremy Hunt fights for his political life
Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt has insisted he had behaved "scrupulously fairly" as he fought for his political life today over claims that he secretly backed News Corporation's bid to take over satellite broadcaster BSkyB. The Tory Cabinet minister told reporters as he left his home this morning that he was going to be making a "very, very determined" effort to show that he acted with "total integrity" in his conduct of the process of deciding whether to approve the deal. It is likely that he will either give a statement or be dragged to the Commons by Labour to explain himself to MPs following prime minister's questions. Yesterday's explosive revelations by James Murdoch at the Leveson Inquiry look set to be followed by an equally fascinating two days as his dad Rupert takes the stand. Oh, and amid all this Westminster awaits the latest GDP figures which are expected to show the UK has slipped back into recession. That will do wonders for George Osborne's poll ratings. BLOG POSTS
