Why Are So Many Olympians From The Bay Area?

Californians will be a force to be reckoned with at the London Olympics this year -- and quite a few of them hail from this here Bay Area.

Of the 530 American athletes gearing up for the opening ceremony Friday, a whopping 128 of them call California home. In fact, Californians make up the entirety of the badminton team, and 24 of the 26 water polo players. And 71 one of them have Bay Area ties.
